In my thirty years as a journalist, it's always the people I write about who get me excited.  I've covered murder and medicine, cults and UFOs.


 My first job for a newspaper was reviewing dance for the Different Drummer in Philadelphia in the early 1970’s, as the Watergate scandal was breaking.

I've reviewed books for the San Francisco Chronicle, covered women's issue for a now-defunct monthly called Plexus in Oakland, and been an editorial writer, healthcare reporter, cops log coordinator and feature writer for the Marin Independent Journal.  Working in a newsroom with a whacky group of writers on deadline  has got to be one of the most entertaining  jobs around.
